Three numbers decide it
How many people, how far, and how much runway is available at the tighter end of the trip. Everything else — cabin, catering, which manufacturer someone prefers — is chosen from what is left after those three have done their work.
What qualifies
Sorted by hourly rate, cheapest first. Range is the published NBAA IFR figure with four passengers; a full cabin and a headwind both eat into it, so anything within about 10% of your leg is worth a conversation rather than a booking.

The cheapest qualifying aircraft is rarely the cheapest trip
A light jet that needs a fuel stop can cost more than a midsize that does not, and an aircraft based two hours away arrives with two hours of repositioning already on the invoice. Which aircraft is actually near your departure field on your date is the part no calculator knows.
